In a couple of weeks, on November 26-28 to be exact, our annual conference kicks off in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Extra ordinary keynotes and over 35 workshops, demonstrations and seminars are the highlights of this networking event where everybody meets interested in coaching and mentoring.
It is also the occasion for the General Assembly, our highest decision making body, that gathers to discuss the future of coaching and mentoring and more specifically the role that EMCC is going to play in the forthcoming year. Evaluating the past, making up the balance and planning for what is to come.
This blog contains the views that I want to share with you regarding our organization and the development of coaching and mentoring and related topics.
One could easily get the impression that EMCC communicates primarily through the Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) and task forces consisting of its members. However EMCC has a reach beyond our membership as clients (organizations and individuals alike) want to get more information on what coaching and mentoring actually is all about.
What is coaching? What is mentoring? What to expect from a mentor? What qualifications should I look for when I want to engage a coach? Where do I look for a trustworthy and qualified education in coaching? What kind of coach do I need for this specific problem?
These are just a few and some of the most frequent asked questions that reach our people. Valuable questions that need answers; Answers built upon research and experience. Answers that reflect the latest developments in the field and profits from the exchange of results and knowledge gathered by clients, practitioners and professionals.
During the conference there will be special seminars dedicated to the launch of EIA (European Individual Accreditation) our individual certification process with four levels and available in the UK by the end of October. Following EQA (European Quality Award) an accreditation process aimed at educations in mentoring and coaching, this is the latest contribution we make to raise the standards and quality of the profession.
Our conference is a place where a couple of hundred participants from all over the world are in the epicenter of the coaching and mentoring field looking for news, trends, research and developments, using the opportunity to network with some of the top names in the profession, sharing experiences, opinions and research results.
All of this to move the development of mentoring and coaching forward towards commonly agreed best practice, one code of ethics and clearly defined levels of certification and accreditation.
Please visit www.emccouncil.org to read more about the conference and download the brochure with the complete program and a listing of the keynote speakers and exiting workshops and seminars.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in Amsterdam and share the experience with you.
Until the next update, best wishes from
Peter Necas
